Project 6 "Sagip Ngipin"
December 2004

WSA Welfare Society Incorporated is a nonprofit community service organization that cares for and assists the children of Albay, Philippines. In an effort to raise the awareness of the importance of dental health, the “Sagip Ngipin” Dental Mission was organized together with the Philippine Dental Association(PDA) Albay Chapter for the students of San Isidro, Sto. Domingo, Albay last 22 December (Wednesday from 1-6pm).

The San Isidro Office of the Barangay Captain came up with the list of 100 children from 10-16 years old. They provided us with a separate venue for a film showing and for the dental services(consultancy and cleaning only). Appreciation is given to the Barangay Tanod for ensuring the peace&order and safety of the volunteers and children during the mission.

Project 5 "Carolling"
December 2003

In cooperation with Buhatan Barangay’s Captain Balana, we organized a “caroling cum interpretative dancing” for their community. Our carolers were young volunteers dressed in a Santa outfits. They all enjoyed belting out Christmas songs while performing dances at various household doorsteps on a cold December when many are gathered at home.

Aside from the hymn, lyrics; entertainment that inevitably soothe and uplift one's spirits, we also gave the poorest household gifts and food for their children. Around 100 household were visited during this activity.

Two of the most important Filipino Christmas traditions are the parol (Christmas lantern usually shaped as a star) and carolling.

Project 4 "Clean Election Campaign"
2001

We still believed in the decades-old fight against the infamous trio of "gold, guns and goons," Our goal was to work valiantly to promote clean and honest election.

In this project, We have enganged individuals to share thier talents, creativity and ideas in educating the people about the upcoming election. The volunteers made various flyier and poster for distribution during the rallies and our house to house campaigns.

Voting in the election is our voice in government and we must choose a candidate that has credibility and capable of delivering results to the people. We have the ability to send out a message that unscrupulous and tainted character has no place in public service.

Project 3 "Family Visits"
December 2001

In the spirit of gift giving during this festive season, WSA and Friends organized visits to the less privileged families of Sta Mesirecordia, Sto. Domingo Albay. We are grateful for the help extended by the office of the Brgy Captain in reaching out to the poorest among the poor families of the community.

Our mission was to visit the families who lived in wooden and dilapilated houses. We gave them canned good, gifts, shared songs and stories. To brighten these lives that exist in such conditions will touch your humanity

Project 2 "Catechism, Healthy Habits Campaign and Family Fun Games"
October 2000

The concept of catechism is virtually unknown in today’s new generation. We believe it is of great value to the spiritual welfare of youth growing up in the church and for the continued strength of the church as a whole

Manay Kikay of San Roque, Sto. Domingo Albay and our countless volunteers helped to foster the great truths of God's Word among the young adults and children. This was a very uplifting experience for all of us since we were able to touch and enrich the hearts and minds of the future generation.

Fun and games for the children, parents and family followed shortly after the spiritual/educational activity. In this event, everyone had their own share of laughter, surprises, ideas, teamwork and prices.

Project 1 "Mount Mayon Relief Program"
March 2000

In 1999, Mt. Mayon showed signs of activity and continued to threaten neighboring towns with its minor earthquake and lava flows. After its major eruption in February 1999, thousands of people were displaced from their homes. People took refuge in nearby evacuation centers which still lacked for food and water

Our goal for this project was to generate funds for the purchase of goods such as milk, sugar, water, rice, noodles, etc, which were then packed and distributed to a number of families. Wilfred Abrigo initiated a Charity Drive in Singapore and organized the distribution of goods last 20 March 2000. Acknowledgements are given to generous friends and Apex Systems Private Limited Singapore.
